Fun and excitement are at the forefront of our hands-on curriculum that is STEM.org accredited and Cognia certified. Our lessons guide students through exciting engineering challenges using our EFK Engineering Design Process. These projects are carefully selected and structured to spark curiosity, create memorable learning experiences, and inspire the next generation of engineers.
Levels of Curriculum
Programs have been categorized into three levels to present engaging, age-appropriate challenges that grow in complexity at each age level.
Junior Engineers
Pre-K to 2nd GradeOur Junior Engineers are children 4 – 8 years of age. Children in this age group are naturally curious and excited about learning. Therefore, our Junior level programs provide abundant opportunities for exploration, discovery, and hands-on learning. At this level, we begin building a strong educational foundation by exposing students to the EFK Engineering Design Process and a wide variety of engineering concepts in a way that is exciting, engaging, and developmentally age-appropriate.
Apprentice Engineers
3rd to 5th GradeOur Apprentice Engineers are children 8 – 11 years of age. Apprentice Engineers are exposed to a variety of fields of engineering and spend each class session collaborating with their classmates to design, build, test, and improve solutions to exciting engineering challenges. Our EFK Engineering Design Process teaches students that falling short of goals is a natural part of scientific exploration and that testing and improving are essential parts of every project. Following this process of continual improvement encourages Apprentice Engineers to step outside their comfort zones and try new things with confidence.
Masters Engineers
6th to 8th GradeOur Master Engineers are children 11 – 14 years of age. Master Engineers have the opportunity to explore a wide range of fields of Engineering and examine STEM concepts associated with each engineering challenge at a deeper level than at younger ages. At this level, students use the EFK Engineering Design Process to collaborate with their classmates to create and assess multiple iterations of their design solutions to solve more complex, open-ended challenges.
Interactive Engineering
Our Interactive Engineering programs expose students to a variety of fields of engineering as they tackle exciting, hands-on STEM challenges that encourage critical thinking and creativity. Students will collaborate with their classmates as they develop multiple iterations of their design solutions using the EFK Engineering Design Process. The fun and excitement that these programs provide are sure to inspire the next generation of engineers.
We offer Interactive Engineering programs in the following areas of engineering:
- Aerospace
- Chemical
- Civil
- Electrical
- Environmental
- Industrial
- Marine
- Mechanical
- Mechatronic
Robotics Engineering
Build It, Code It, Test It!
Our lessons teach students the foundational skills they need to develop a conceptual understanding of robotics engineering using playful themes that children enjoy. In each lesson, students are guided through an engaging, technical, hands-on build. Then, they learn to code and program their robot. Lastly, students apply our EFK Engineering Design Process to tackle an exciting robotics engineering challenge. Our robotics programs allow students to dive deep into the world of robotics to explore how they can be used to solve real-world problems!
Technology & Coding
In these programs, children learn a variety of software and hardware engineering skills that will allow them to move from passive consumers of technology to innovative creators. Engineering For Kids offers a wide variety of engaging programs, such as video game design, 3D CAD modeling, game-based coding, esports, and more!
Minecraft
At Engineering For Kids, we have strategically developed curriculum that engages students in a variety of STEM concepts using a video game loved by children all over the world – Minecraft! Our educational Minecraft programs provide a unique, collaborative learning experience centered around a variety of engaging themes. Students work collaboratively within the game to develop creative solutions to exciting design challenges.
